Bournemouth, Liverpool and Manchester for 2011-14 Labour
Party Conferences
The Labour Party has selected Bournemouth, Liverpool and
Manchester as the host cities for its annual conferences from
2011-2014.
The decision provides for a broadening of the Labour Party’s
conference venues. After being the first political party to hold
its conference in Manchester, Labour will break new ground when its
annual conference visits Liverpool in 2011.
Labour’s Annual Conferences could mean millions of pounds for
the regions’ economies. Labour’s 2006 Manchester Conference
generated over £15m of economic benefit for the region.
Jim Knight, Labour’s Minister for the South West,
said:
"This is great news for Bournemouth and I am incredibly proud to
have it returning to our region. The party conference in
Bournemouth in 2007 was a great success and I am sure the town
residents will make us very welcome again.
"The Labour Party Conference will generate millions of pounds
for the region’s economy with thousands of visitors including
delegates, ambassadors, journalists, and business people coming to
the town."
Ray Collins, Labour Party General Secretary,
said:
"The Labour Party’s Annual Conference is the highlight of the
party’s year, a time when party members come together to discuss
how to achieve Labour’s vision of a fair future for all.
"Bournemouth, Liverpool, and Manchester provide state-of-the-art
venues for Labour Ministers and party members to shape Labour’s
solutions to the challenges that Britain faces.
"Labour broke new ground when we held conference in Manchester
in 2006 and in 2011 we will be the first party to visit Liverpool.
New host cities provide us with the opportunity to broaden
potential conference venues and the people that attend. Listening
to the people has always been at the heart of Labour Party
conference and we are delighted to be visiting these cities."
